Bahamian Media News:

The Bahamas Customs and Excise Department held an induction ceremony for over one hundred recruits on Monday.

Minister of Economic Affairs, Sen. Hon. Michael Halkitis was in attendance at the event held at Customs House. He told the recruits, “many people recommended you, I’ll leave you with this, and made representations for you and gave references for you, made phone calls on your behalf. And so, I implore you to make sure that you vindicate them and justify that faith that they had in you when they called and they said so and so is very smart, very brilliant, very eager, a hard worker, they’ll be a great addition to the customs department. And so you’re here. This is the beginning of your training and make sure, please, that you make them all proud of you.”

Recruit, Vantajah Charlton told reporters joining the customs department is the best opportunity she’s had. “I’m gonna succeed, walk across the stage. This means a lot. I’m definitely gonna grow and take everything that I can and continue it on in my journey after I graduate.”
