Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Presidential Search Announced

Bahamian Media News:

Chairman of Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) Board of Directors, Elvin Taylor, wishes to announce that a Presidential Advisory Search Committee has been appointed by the Board to recruit a President, pursuant to Section 7 of the BTVI Act 2010. The individual will replace President, Dr. Linda A. Davis, who has served in leadership at BTVI for just over four (4) years.

The Presidential Search Advisory Committee is comprised of stakeholders from across The Bahamas, who are expected to carry out their statutory duties with integrity. The Committee will be chaired by Retired Anglican Archdeacon James Palacious.

A Presidential Profile has been developed outlining the desired qualifications, experience and qualities of the prospective President. That profile, attached here, will also be published via BTVI’s website and newspaper advertisements. The profile is the benchmark for the ideal candidate and will act as a guide as the Search Advisory Committee seeks a candidate of excellence.

The Presidential Profile will help the Presidential Search Committee to identify someone who is expected to be a skilled administrator with executive-level experience in leading a complex, multifaceted organisation and will be expected to build on the national and international success of BTVI. The President, the central point of contact for private and public industries seeking resources and solutions for workforce training, is expected to embody the principles and core values of BTVI and will have oversight responsibility for the implementation of the recently approved strategic plan in collaboration with stakeholders. As such, the President must possess a clear vision and passion for BTVI’s mission and must be able to motivate relevant groups to embrace and champion this mission.

The President is the Chief Executive Officer and representative of BTVI for all accreditation matters, national and international. As such, the President has oversight responsibility for compliance with all standards and requirements of the National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of The Bahamas (NAECOB) and the Council on Occupational Education (COE).

The Presidential Advisory Committee will compile a preliminary list of candidates from which a shortlist will be generated. The top three to four candidates will be invited to be interviewed by the Search Advisory Committee. Subsequently, the Committee will recommend the top candidate to the BTVI Board of Directors for appointment by the Governor General as President of the Institute pursuant to the BTVI Act, 2010.
