Bahamasair Gets A New 70 Seater Plane

Bahamian Media News:

The national flag carrier has acquired a new aircraft, a 70 seater ATR 72.

Bahamasair Managing Director, Tracy Cooper said the new acquisition is mainly to service the family islands. He said, “it’s gonna be to enhance the product that we provide in and around the islands and we’re really happy to tell you that that air plane is actually in the sky. It left France this morning, it’s on its way to Cape Verde Islands and in another three days or so it will actually be here in The Bahamas.”

Cooper went further stating, “The Bahamas and the family of islands actually are growing as far as population as we’ve had a bit of a struggle trying to keep up with all of the demands that have been placed on Bahamasair. This aircraft is only an augmentation so that we can provide the expected service to the family of islands as they continue to crew.”

The Managing Director also gave an update on needed repaired to the fleet. He said, “Bahamasair still has two of those airplanes that are still awaiting engines because of the manufacturer and the supply chain. The manufacturer is doing a little better and so we expect that at least one of those airplanes will be back in the sky shortly.”
