For the last 39 years, the Barraterre Regatta and Homecoming has brought together Exuma residents and visitors for a weekend filled with
exhilarating sailing races, cultural festivities, and community gatherings. However, what extends beyond that short time, are the projects that proceeds from the event helps to fund.
During a visit to Consolidated Water (Bahamas) Ltd. (CWCO), Barraterre Development Association President, Annie Lloyd, revealed that this year’s event was particularly meaningful because the proceeds are dedicated to enhancing local public spaces. The donation from CWCO also directly supported the provision of opportunities for young sailors.
Annie Llyod said, “Over the years, CWCO has been very supportive of the Barraterre community. The Barraterre Development Association is dedicated to fostering a love for sailing and developing young sailors and making a positive impact in our community.
“This year we are focusing on the construction of a community centre, installation of park play equipment, and other community improvements.”
Henderson Cash, CWCO’s General Manager, said, “We are thrilled to support the Barraterre Regatta and Homecoming, an event that not only celebrates Bahamian sailing traditions but also reinvests in the community. At CWCO, we are committed to helping the communities
we serve thrive. Contributing to projects that enhance local public spaces aligns perfectly with our mission to foster community development and well-being.”
