Bahamian Media News:

The body of a man was discovered in bushes off Springfield Road in the area of Prince Charles Drive on Wednesday.

Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Sheria King was on the scene where she provided details of the incident. She said, “officers responded and discovered an adult male approximately in his early twenties with apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body.”

King was questioned about the time of death. She said police would wait for the results of an autopsy to determine such matters.

Family members of the victim, who was identified as Wayne Marshall, were also on the scene. His mother, Michelle Gedeon told reporters her son had been missing since Tuesday. She learned of the discovery of Marshall’s body while on her way to file a missing persons report.

She said, “they called me and tell me say they say they pass the road and they see my son laying down on the ground. Because I know my son never sleep out without coming home. If he go out with his friends them he come home 12 o’ clock, 1 o’ clock in the morning. He’ll make it home.”

The victim’s sister Charmaine Marshall relayed how the family heard the news. “My friend messaged me this morning and was like she got the news that somebody yuck him last night, maybe when he was coming home or on his way coming home. I was like what do you mean. So I got up and called my old lady and I let her know that he never slept home, nobody saw him, so we just was debating trying to figure out what was going on. Until not to long before the police got up there that he was found dead in the bush.”

The victim was 23 years old at the time of his death.
