Canadian Tourism Mission Heads To Toronto

Bahamian Media News:

Officials of the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation traveled to Canada this week to promote The Bahamas as a premier destination. They have visited Montreal and Toronto.

The mission is being led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper who told reporters The Bahamas has great partners in Toronto.

In an effort to improve airlift Cooper met with officials of Air Canada. He said, “we had a productive, meaningful dialogue. We’re talking more and more about how we may continue to expand not just new routes but additional capacity.”

The Minister added, “in fact out of Montreal we have Air Canada, we have West Jet Sunwing and hopefully real soon we’re going to be launching a new service that we’re gonna talk about in the next coming days. But we also have very active service coming out of new destination like Ottawa and of course Halifax.”

Canadian Travel Writer, Natalie Degrandemont commended the timing of the mission stating that many Canadian consumers are seeking alternative travel destinations due to strained relations with the United States. “So they are going somewhere else this summer. They are looking for other places to go to,” she said.
