The lifeless body of a young girl was found along an unpaved road near Faith Avenue on Wednesday evening.  The child was later unofficially identified as Adriel Moxey, a 12 year old who had been reported missing a day prior to the gruesome discovery.

Commissioner of Police, Clayton Fernander was on the scene where he spoke with ZNS News.  He said, “earlier on Tuesday morning there was a report of a missing young girl child at the age of 12.  The parent went into the Carmichael Road station and reported her missing.  The officers, right away, commenced investigations.  Based on their investigation they go intel and  information which direct them into this general area.   We had a number of officers, a lot of assets, we had three drones in the air and we had two K-9 Units that checked the entire area where they came up with a young female lying on her back.”

According to the Commissioner the young girl was found in bushes with only a top on and a piece of cloth tied tightly around her neck. Fernander also said he had spoken to Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis, who is currently outside of the country, about the incident.

Fernander appealed to the public for any information that would lead to the capture of the assailant .  “We continue to say to people, members of the public, if you see something, you hear something, say something and we’re encouraging members of the public to please do just that.  We have some information, we have some intel and we are following some significant leads at this time.  When you start to mess with our little darlings, our little jewels, our pearls, then its a different level.  As I said earlier tonight, I take this one personally and every Bahamian should do the same to try to bring some closure to this matter,” he said.

Commissioner Fernander believes that the perpetrator knew the victim.  He revealed that he has identified an operation team to work along with investigators to bring closure to this latest homicide.
