Officials at the Ministry of Health and Wellness held a press event on Wednesday to voice concern about the rise in cases of Chlamydia.
Cases of the sexually transmitted disease (STD) are being diagnosed especially in young females between the ages of 15 and 24. Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville told reporters, “we in the Ministry of Health is alerting the population. When Chlamydia is left untreated it can lead to serious health complications particularly in women included infertility and pregnancy related complications. Additionally, there’s an increase in one STD when can notice the trend of other STDs that will follow like Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV.”
