COGOP National Bishop Installation

COGOP National Bishop Installation

Bahamian Media News:

An installation service was held at the Church Of God Of Prophecy East Street Tabernacle on Sunday for their newest National Bishop, Bishop Dr. Woodley Thompson.

The service was attended by Governor General, the Most Hon. Dame Cynthia Pratt along with government officials led by Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis.

Dr. Thompson, son of Bishop Brice Thompson, told attendees, “surely God has been writing each chapter of my life story.  It was in 1974 that my father Bishop Brice H. Thompson ascended to helm of leadership of the Church Of God Of Prophecy in The Bahamas one year after our nation’s independence.  And today history records that fifty years later, one year after our nation’s 50th anniversary of independence, I stand in the same historic East Street Tabernacle, at the same pulpit and assume the same role as my father as National Bishop of the Church Of God Of Prophecy in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.”

During his remarks, Prime Minister Davis said, “I was happy to hear that Bishop Thompson has committed this institution of faith to restoring relationships on several fronts.  Upon accepting your current post as National Bishop you publicly committed as part of your leadership mandate to have various ministries of the church geared towards helping those in the community that may find themselves in difficult times. I applaud this vision and mandate as it is consistent with the great commission and has as his foundation passion for service to others and compassion for your fellow men with particular attention being paid to the less fortunate amongst us.”

Bishop Thompson succeeds Bishop Franklyn Ferguson.
