Community Rallies Behind Transitioning Boys to Men Event

Bahamian Media News:

The Stapledon School campus came alive as community leaders, organizations, and volunteers came together to support the transformative event themed “Transitioning Boys to Men.” Spearheaded by Pastor Albertha Simms-Smith, Senior Pastor of The Lord’s House of Prayer International Deliverance Ministry, Inc., the initiative offered a powerful platform for mentoring, inspiration, and community upliftment.

The boys of Stapledon School were treated to an extraordinary luncheon with entertainment, motivational speeches, interactive activities, food and drinks to celebrate International Day of the Boy Child.

In a heartfelt show of appreciation, Pastor Simms-Smith and the organizing team extend their sincere gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success. Pastor Simms-Smith extended special thanks to Director Sharmaine Farrington of The Department of Gender and Family Affairs (DGFA), as well as Mr. Chadwick James of The Men’s Desk, DGFA.

“The Department of Gender and Family Affairs’ commitment to male mentorship and development is making a lasting impact across our nation,” she said.

Corporate support also played a vital role. Coca-Cola, Marco’s Pizza, and DKL Catering and Party Rentals made generous contributions that ensured every student was well served and every moment enjoyed.

Spiritual and motivational leadership was powerfully represented by Minister Franklyn
Miller of the G.L.U.E. organization; Minister V.C. Simms; Mr. Charles Moss; and Mr. Douglas Fawkes, whose words and presence uplifted the young men in attendance. Mr. Fawkes also gave musical renditions from the school’s piano.

The organizers also acknowledged the invaluable support of Mr. Alvin and Alexis Bain, Mrs. Christina Lightbourne, Ms. Kaye Thurston, Dr. Nadine McClain, Ms. Rhonda Major, Ms.Sherry Rolle, and Ms. Corrine Evans, who encouraged the boys  through mentorship, logistical support, or financial aid, which strengthened the event’s impact.

Adding cultural brilliance to the day, the world-renowned Saxons SuperStars delivered a captivating performance that energized and inspired the audience, blending tradition with purpose.

“Finally, to the many great women and men who gave of their time, talents, and financial resources, your kindness and dedication did not go unnoticed,” Pastor Simms Smith said.

“This event was a powerful reminder of what our community can achieve when we stand together for the future of our boys.”

“We are not simply raising boys, we are raising kings, leaders, and legacy builders. Thank you for believing in them.”
