Community Spirit Shines as Loving Care Hosts Back-to-School Event

Bahamian Media News:

The Bahamas Loving Care Association, founded by the late Sam “Marathon Man” Williams, continued its decades-long tradition of service with a vibrant Back-to-School Giveaway at Cynthia “Mother” Pratt Park in The Grove on Saturday, August 23.Children and families from the community gathered for an afternoon filled with excitement, nourishment, and encouragement. Students received essential school supplies and enjoyed fully loaded nachos and hotdogs generously provided by Albany, along with treats like cotton candy, popcorn, and slushies. Music, games, a bouncing castle, and prize giveaways kept the energy high, while free haircuts and hairstyles helped ensure students were ready to step confidently into the new school year.

In keeping with the spirit of the Association’s mission, the day also featured motivational messages and prayers of covering for the year ahead—reminding every child that they are valued and supported. The legacy of founder Sam Williams, a national runner, teacher, and philanthropist who dedicated his life to uplifting the youth of The Grove, lives on through his daughter, Sambria Williams, who continues to guide the Association’s efforts from the family homestead in The Grove. This year’s successful event was made possible through the generosity of sponsors including Albany, Charlain Williams, Purity Bakery, Coca-Cola, Bowes Toilet Rental, Eden Well, J Co Wholesale, Amethyst Memorial, The Myles and Ruth Foundation, Felecia Rolle, and Rock of Ages. The Bahamas Loving Care Association extends heartfelt thanks to each of them for helping create a day filled with joy, laughter, and love—a reminder that when a community comes together, every child can step into the school year feeling equipped, encouraged, and embraced.
