Bahamas Crisis Center Administrator and Consultant in the Office of the Attorney General Cleopatra Christie commented on the continuing consultation on the proposed legislation on marital rape.
Christie said, “we are pressing and urging our government to take those steps. Be bold, we’ve been talking about it for a very long time. We’ve been talking with the church. The church seems to have a big voice and they understand it now. So we need to be bold and take steps and go forward with the new legislation making it an offence to abuse your wife.”
