A man was killed in a double shooting on Martin Close off Cowpen Road over the weekend.

Police on the scene told reporters, “this is a grave concern for the police especially when we see incidents like this happen simultaneously, right back to back.  Early this morning right in a residential area we have persons discharging high powered weapons in that area.  The police, we have a strategic plan in place where we continue to be out there on the streets and we continue to hit these prolific areas, these prolific offenders who known to have firearms, who known to be distributing drugs.   I also want to send a strong warning to these persons who continue to use firearms in these offences. Like I said, we have police officers out there on patrol and then if we see you or we come across you then we’ll have to take the necessary action and then ensure that our public is safe at the end of the day.”

The second victim was taken to hospital.  This is the 94th homicide for the year.
