All ten people occupying a Cessna 402 plane belonging to Flamingo Air lost their lives on Friday, July 10th when the plane crashed in North Andros.
North Andros Administrator, Beverley Laramore spoke with ZNS News on Monday where she provided an update. She said, “the heart of North Andros is still somber. The persons are still trying to wrap their heads around what is going on and to process the grieving process.”
Laramore also addressed the collection of evidence and victim’s remains that has been taking place since the day the incident occurred. “Whatever remains that they were able to find they have removed. We know that there was an intense fire and so you have where, I don’t want to be too graphic because you have family members who will probably listen to this, from a fire you’re gonna have remains and not always intact. And so the police have to go through those ashes to ensure that they remove all of the remains to process the investigation further,” she said.
The North Andros Administrator said she is still waiting on official reports of the identity of the deceased. “Because we have not gotten the official names what we’re going on by now is persons who were intended to come and we cannot get in contact with them, we’re going on that basis as to who may have been on the flight but we still have not gotten a confirmation to say exactly because we could not identify the bodies we are still on that term.”
According to Laramore she has been contacted by several psychologists offering counselling to those who may need it.
