Press Release
The Ministry of Health & Wellness through its Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) is launching a National Summer Vaccination Catch-Up Campaign aimed at increasing vaccination coverage and protecting communities across The Bahamas from vaccine-preventable diseases. The campaign will
run throughout the months of July and August to provide convenient access to vaccinations for infants, children, adolescents, and adults who may have missed one or more recommended vaccines.
Vaccination services will be available every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Golden Gates Shopping Plaza, Edmund Moxey Park, and R.M. Bailey Park in New Providence. Residents of Grand Bahama, Eleuthera, and other Family Islands will be able to access services at designated community locations, which will be announced through the Ministry’s social media platforms and local health facilities.
The Campaign seeks to increase the national vaccination coverage rates to at least 95 percent in key childhood and adolescent vaccines such as DPT, MMR, DTap, and HPV. The Ministry of Health & Wellness encourages all parents and guardians to review their children’s vaccination records during the summer break and take advantage of the campaign to bring immunizations up to date before the start of the new school year. Adults who may have missed recommended vaccines are also encouraged to participate.
