Brown, CM has been selected to represent The Bahamas as a featured Bold Beauty Project participant photographed by Bahamian Donn Thompson, Drac Inc in the internationally acclaimed European Cultural Centre’s Personal Structures – Confluences 2026 exhibition at the prestigious Venice Biennale.
The exhibition will run from May 9 to November 22, 2026, with opening receptions and official ceremonies taking place from May 7–10, 2026 in Venice, Italy.
This historic opportunity comes on the heels of Brown being conferred the 2025 National Honour, Order of Merit – Companion for meritorious service to the disabled community in The Bahamas. The honour was conferred by Governor General Dame Cynthia Pratt O.N., G.C.M.G., under the National Honours Act, 2017, recognizing Brown’s national impact and longstanding commitment to disability inclusion, advocacy, and reform.
Brown, who has led the Office of Disabilities and Compliance at the University of The Bahamas for the past six years, will be featured in the globally recognized Bold Beauty Project exhibition at Palazzo Mora. The exhibition brings together artists, advocates, and creatives from around the world who are reshaping narratives of identity, inclusion, and representation. Her participation positions The Bahamas within one of the most influential cultural forums in the world.
A proud native of Grand Bahama, Brown is a more than twenty-year stage 4 osteosarcoma survivor and above-the-knee amputee. She is widely regarded as one of the Caribbean’s leading Disability Inclusion Consultants. Through her disability-led consultancy and nonprofit, Erin Brown Connects, Disability Advocacy and Inclusion Management, she has advanced inclusive development across education, health, employment, accessible tourism, and national policy reform, working with institutions regionally and internationally.
Her selection to participate in the Venice Biennale reflects both her individual contributions and The Bahamas’ growing presence within the global cultural and intellectual landscape.
Brown’s work aligns closely with national priorities in education, human development, and inclusive growth. In her leadership role at the University of The Bahamas, she continues to advance inclusive educational practices while expanding opportunities for disabled students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the wider community, reinforcing a national commitment to equity and access.
“This opportunity represents a meaningful moment for The Bahamas,” Brown noted. “It reflects the strength of our disabled community, the importance of inclusion, and the value of ensuring that our voices are present in global conversations.”
Her participation comes at a time when The Bahamas continues to expand its footprint on international cultural platforms, reinforcing the role of Bahamian leadership in shaping conversations around identity, access, and innovation.
As both an advocate and practitioner, Brown’s work contributes to broader national and regional efforts to build more inclusive, equitable systems that support sustainable and innovative development.
