The Bahamas Strong Families Organization is observing National Family Week.

Founder Cheryl Walkine-Alexandre appeared at a press conference at the Office of the Prime Minister on Thursday where she spoke about the initiative. She said, “our legacy, our future will not be secured without family security. Pope John Paul II powerfully and truthfully declared as the family goes so goes the nation, so goes the world. Social scientists have inserted so goes the children. The basic core needs, survival needs of family members are love, connection, acceptance, security, competence, progress and autonomy or independence. When there’s a lack or perceived lack of these basic core needs hurt is created.”
