FEM STEM Bahamas Invites Schools to Join ITU Robotics for Good Youth Competition

Bahamian Media News:

FEM STEM Bahamas is inviting schools across The Bahamas to participate in the prestigious International Telecommunication Union Robotics for Good Youth Competition, an international initiative that prepares students to design technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The call follows a recent Robotics and Agriculture Workshop held February 6, 2026, which brought together student representatives from A F Adderley Senior High School, C V Bethel Senior High School, Windsor Preparatory Academy, King’s College School and ISBET.

Now, FEM STEM Bahamas is expanding the invitation nationwide, encouraging schools to register Junior and Senior teams ahead of the February 17 deadline.

Founder of FEM STEM Bahamas, Tyrhonda Knowles-Glinton, who was recently selected as The Bahamas’ first National Organizer for the international competition, described the opportunity as transformational for Bahamian youth.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected as The Bahamas’ first National Organizer for the ITU Robotics for Good Competition,” she said. “This competition is about preparation, exposure and possibility. I strongly encourage school administrators, teachers and students to register before the February 17 deadline and be part of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent our country on the global stage.”

The competition features two categories:

  • Junior Team: Ages 10–14 (born 2016–2012)
  • Senior Team: Ages 15–18 (born 2011–2008)

The national competition is scheduled for March 21, 2026. Winning teams will advance to the Grand Finale in Geneva, Switzerland, set for July 7–8, 2026.

According to FEM STEM Bahamas, the initiative provides hands-on learning in robotics, programming and sustainable technology, while building critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Participating schools will also position themselves as leaders in 21st-century education and innovation.

Organizers believe the programme is essential in preparing Bahamian youth to lead in an increasingly technology-driven world, while ensuring educators are supported in delivering practical, future-ready STEM experiences.

Schools are encouraged to submit applications by February 17, 2026, as spaces are limited in both Junior and Senior categories.

FEM STEM encourages corporate sponsors to come on board and assist in fulfilling students dreams and fueling futures. For registration details and additional information, schools may contact FEM STEM Bahamas at 1 242 467-5712, email info@femstembahamas.org, visit www.femstembahamas.org, or follow the organization on social media.
