For the first time in the history of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force a female officer has ascended to the position of Deputy Commodore.
Natasha Miller spoke with reporters about the achievement at the handing over ceremony held at the Coral Harbour Base on Thursday. She said, “I think that there were great women before me who could have risen to this rank or even a higher rank but they were just not given the opportunity. But I am happy today that I am here and it has opened the door for other women in this organization and in other uniformed branches you’ve seen, the Commissioner of Police, she has risen to the top. So I might have an opportunity to rise to the top but at this moment I am indeed grateful.”
