Members of the Free National Movement’s (FNM) Central Grand Bahama Association seemed in a celebratory mood at the news of the resignation of Member of Parliament, Iram Lewis from the Party.
Some members were gathered at the FNM’s Grand Bahama headquarters on Thursday where they spoke with ZNS News about the latest development. Association Member Margaret Bonaby wished Lewis the best. She said, “I really couldn’t say nothing exceptional that Mr. Lewis did in our area. As far as I’m concerned his service will never be missed in my opinion. So like I said, I wish him the best but its no miss, you know, when one go two come.”
There is speculation that FNM leader, the Hon. Michael Pintard will run for the Central Grand Bahama seat in the next general elections instead of Marco City where he is currently the Member of Parliament. Central Grand Bahama Association Assistant Security Johnyk Bevans said, “it’s a process and that’s up to the Party. The Party has not yet selected anybody so its just a matter of waiting until that process is complete. So we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves and we don’t want persons to be misled by the things that are circulating on social media. When the Party is ready to make that decision the Party would go ahead and announce that. You would have an official announcement of who the next representative for Central Grand Bahama would be.”
Iram Lewis has joined the Coalition Of Independents making him the first sitting Member of Parliament for that Party.
