Forbes Hill Cultural Village Opens

Bahamian Media News:

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis and Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Exuma and Ragged Island, the Hon. Chester Cooper traveled to Exuma for the opening of the Forbes Hill Cultural Village.

At a ceremony held to mark the opening Prime Minister Davis told attendees, “this project, of course, is a testament to Chester’s enterprising spirit. It offers entrepreneurs six months of rent free space to foster business growth breathing new life into the community and serving as a catalyst for growth and development. So I encourage all those here today, spread the word about this valuable initiative.”

For his part, Mr. Cooper said, “I believe that to whom much is given, much is required. I’ve lived and worked in many countries. I’ve traveled to dozens of them. I studied in the USA, Canada and the UK. I’ve studied at Acadia University and Nova University and even Howard University but nothing and no where as taught me as much as I learned right here in Forbes Hill.”

The new cultural village was funded by Cooper’s parliamentary salary as well as donations. The building can house 150 people and will also serve as a hurricane shelter.

Also in attendance was the former Member of Parliament for Exuma, George Smith as well as the Minister of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs, the Hon. Clay Sweeting.
