Former CDU Chief Charged

Former Police Chief Superintendent Michael Johnson who served as Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations  Department appeared before Chief Magistrate, Roberto Reckley on Monday.  Johnson was charged with several offences along with attorney Bjorn Ferguson and Sergeant 3726 Deangelo Rolle.

It is alleged that Johnson stole $90,000 of the money stolen in an armored truck heist that occurred in late 2023.  He was charged with conspiracy to commit bribery,  accessory after the fact to stealing, stealing and receiving.

Rolle was charged with abetment to stealing while Ferguson is charged with accessory after the fact to stealing.

Investigations into the case began in mid 2024 when a voice note allegedly of Johnson having a conversation with purported gang leader, Michael Fox Jr. to assist him with getting a case against him squashed in exchange for money was leaked on social media.  Johnson was placed on garden leave in July 2024, his resignation was announced in December 2024 by then Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander. Ferguson, who served as the lawyer for Fox Jr.,  was also a participant in the leaked voice notes.  Michael Fox Jr. was found murdered after a shooting in May 2024.

Michael Johnson was granted bail in the amount of $25,000 while both Rolle and Ferguson were granted $7,500 bail.

The men are expected to return to court on January 30th for voluntary bills of indictment.
