Former PM Ingraham Medical Procedure Update

Bahamian Media News:

Former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham has undergone brain surgery and is recovering Doctor’s Hospital.

Ingraham’s team of doctors led by Dr. Duane Sands spoke with members of the media on Tuesday. Dr. Sands said, “former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham was admitted to Doctor’s Hospital yesterday. He underwent emergency surgery. He is convalescing extremely well. He in good spirits. As a matter of fact, I just left him a few minutes ago. We had a good laugh together.”

Sands emphasized that any reports of Ingraham being serious ill of having passed on are exaggerated.

Lead Neurosurgeon, Dr. Magnus Ekedede spoke of the need for the surgery to repair an acute subdural hematoma. Prior to a scan that discovered the blood clot, Ingraham had complained of headaches and had dexterity challenges. Dr. Ekedede said, “the clot was pretty big and was pushing the brain slightly so we had to go and take it out. As a matter of fact he could have gone home this morning but not to be too hasty in our treatment we had to leave him to recover a little bit more.”

Dr. Ekedede also said that former Prime Minister Ingraham should be leaving hospital on Wednesday.
