Former Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Killarney, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis has addressed Parliament on his future plans after not receiving a nomination from the Free National Movement for the next general election.
Leader of the Opposition and leader of the Free National Movement, the Hon. Michael Pintard held a press event in early April where he announced that the Party would not be offering Dr. Minnis a nomination. He said, “I have met with our former leader and I’ve indicated to him that we can benefit from and I’ve asked him for his support, his support in a different capacity then he has served remarkably in Killarney for a number of years. I’ve indicated to him that we can benefit from his guidance as we strategize to retake and transform this country. I’ve asked him to provide additional information that sometimes only Prime Ministers know that would allow us to defend our record as a Party.”
On Wednesday Dr. Minnis told Parliamentarians, “I come to this place every meeting as a member of the Free National Movement on behalf of the people of Killarney who I have represented for nearly two decades. They have shown me tremendous support all these years. I remain grateful for this support. My job in this place is to give voice to them for better governance for our nation as a whole. It is a pleasure to be their representative in this place and I look forward to continuing this representation.”
