The Division of Youth of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture held an awards luncheon for the 2026 cohort of its Job Ready Programme on Thursday, April 9, at the Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium. As part of the Ministry’s mandate to ensure that youth can have a successful transition from high school into the working world, the Job Ready programme was created.
The programme is aimed at 16 to18-year-olds, giving them eight weeks of training and 4 weeks of internship in a working environment. Participants were addressed by guest speaker Barry Griffin, vice-president of the Senate and chairman of the Bahamas Trade Commission (BTC), who encouraged them “to be in it to win it.”
The luncheon was held under the theme ‘Getting the Job Done’ and was used to celebrate the achievements of the 20-30 programme participants. The participants received certificates of completion and Bahama Host certifications as well as other special awards. Some participants were hired by internship partners such as Atlantis Resort, Fusion Superplex, and the Ocean Club.
