Gladstone Road Improvement Project Update

Gladstone Road Improvement Project Update

Bahamian Media News:

Minister of Works and Family Island Affairs, the Hon. Clay Sweeting recently gave an update on the status of road reconstruction planned for Gladstone Road on New Providence.

Sweeting told reporters the removal of utility poles has begun by Bahamas Power and Light and also spoke to the project’s funding. “As you see there’s some funding airmarked in the budget to start some of that but that would be in the appendices which the Prime Minister spoke about having more creative ways of funding some of these capital projects because its quite a large number of things that need to get done that’s been neglected or couldn’t get done because of funding issues for a while. So that is in that part where you get through government loans guarantees, PPPs and other like,” he said.

The road construction has suffered several delays and is expected to take two years to complete. It will include new sidewalks, a bike trail and new drainage system.
