HOA: Civil Aviation Amendment Bill

Bahamian Media News:

Parliamentarians debated amendments to the Civil Aviation Bill in the House Of Assembly last week. The bill seeks to provide for the express recognition of certificates and licenses that are not just equal to but better than specified standards. It also provides for complete and uninterrupted access to air operators personnel, aircraft, operations facilities, and associated records for certification, ongoing
surveillance and the resolution of safety concerns.

During his contribution to the debate Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama, the Hon. Kwasi Thompson said, “all of the civil aviation bills that come they appear to be where there is a threat of if you do not do this you are in danger of losing your tier 1 status. In doing that you’re almost negotiating with a gun to your head. If there a way for you to have almost a permanent on staff, what I would call, consultant who may be continuously communicating with these agencies and instead of waiting for an assessment to be done that there is an ongoing assessment, that assessment almost never ends, that there is a continuous assessment being done so that you are continually upgrading what is required.”
