HOA Signing For Baha Mar Expansion

A signing ceremony was held at the Baha Mar Resort on Wednesday for the expansion of the resort.

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis attended the event.  He said, “the dawn of a new chapter for Baha Mar is a signal to the world that The Bahamas is open for business, ready to embrace new opportunities and steadfast in our vision of sustainable growth.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation,  the Hon. Chester Cooper highlighted his ministry’s current efforts to attract more stop over visitors to the country. “We looking to get more deeply into the South American market.  We’re in discussions, actively, with a few of the major airlines that service that area and we’re also in active discussions with airlines out of the middle east,” he said.

According to Baha Mar President, Graeme Davis the new development will include a 350 room hotel along with 50 luxury residences.  Davis also expressed that the resort will environmentally friendly and sustainable.  He said, “we’re using sustainable resources on construction certainly through the efforts of what we have planned for the future and our water consumption, energy consumption.  We’re focused as a Baha Mar enterprise to work on being carbon neutral.”

The project is expected to be complete by 2029.
