Pelican Bay Hotel General Manager, Magnus Alnebeck shared his thoughts on the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Resort on Tuesday.
Alnebeck told ZNS News the heads of agreement signing is the first step in getting Grand Lucayan back and reopened. There’s gonna be work and rebranding and repositioning and renovations and then eventually there will be an opening and that will be the big nice day.”
The Hotel Manager also spoke about the tourism product on Grand Bahama. “Those people want to have a destination that is alive with restaurants and plenty of stores and things that are happening. We are probably the biggest supporters of getting Grand Lucayan open. It is likely to be sixty or seventy percent of all the rooms that we have the hopefully will get open pretty soon and that will of course attract air lift and hopefully we can get the airfares down. There’s a whole effect of something like that.”
Alnebeck is also hopefully the redevelopment of the Grand Bahama International Airport will move forward. He said, “I will be highly surprised if that’s not part of the heads of agreement. I’m sure that the new owners of such a hotel will have worked that out with government.”
The signing of the heads of agreement for the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Hotel is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th.
