In a salute to Human Rights Day recently, Mrs. Ann Marie Davis of the Office of the Spouse of the Prime Minister, attended and gave remarks at the Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled (BAPD)  ‘Winter Wonderland’ Christmas Production (December 10) at the BAPD Clubhouse, Dolphin Drive.

In the spirit of  ‘Winter Wonderland!’ Mrs. Davis said: “I’m so excited to be here to celebrate with you today. I want to firstly thank the team at The Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled for inviting me to be here, and on Human Rights Day, no less. This morning, this production brings together the magic of the Christmas season and the powerful reminder that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and love.”  It invited us, she said, to reflect on how we treat one another and how we advocate for each other.

“This ‘Winter Wonderland’ is a perfect reflection of that mission. It shows what is possible when we create spaces where every child and every young person is supported, uplifted, and encouraged to shine.

“I want to congratulate the incredible team at the BAPD, the staff, volunteers, board members, and of course, the dedicated parents. Your commitment to nurturing these young minds and bodies is a living example of compassion in action. You are building confidence and helping to develop skills that will propel these young people into thriving.

“And to the wonderful performers and students, today is your day! Your enthusiasm and hard work will not go unnoticed. You remind us that talent comes in many forms and I can truly say I’m proud of you.”

Mrs. Davis remarked, “as we enjoy this Winter Wonderland together, let us remember the essence of Human Rights Day: the promise that every person, every single one, has a rightful place in our society. When we embrace inclusivity, we create a better, more compassionate Bahamas.

“Thank you for inviting me to share in this beautiful moment. Merry Christmas, and God bless you.”
