Labour Minister invites Youth Empowerment trainees to government programmes in which they can ‘earn as they learn’

Bahamian Media News:

The Hon. Pia Glover-Rolle, Minister of Labour and the Public Service, addressed the 14th Annual Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) Day, February 7, 2026 at Lorena Thompson Auditorium, during which she told youth attendees that the Government of The Bahamas is positioned to “empower you today.”

Minister Glover-Rolle advised the youth on the brink of entering the working world: “You can earn as you learn” through initiatives such as the National Apprenticeship Programme; the Mandatory Workforce Preparatory Programme, the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI), and through the Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI).

The Youth Empowerment Programme provides after-school holistic skills development and training for high school students, grades 9-12.  Students are exposed to real life situations, for example, college preparation, business, fine arts and drama, health and fitness, entrepreneurship, job readiness, volunteerism, conflict resolution, environment and spiritual awareness.
