Police on the island of Grand Bahama have seized suspected marijuana from a derelict vehicle in North Bahamia with a street valued of approximately $165,000.

Chief Superintendent Will Hart gave details of the discovery at a press event on Thursday. He said, “the Rapid Response Unit went to the area of North Bahamia where their attention was drawn to a Chevy Malibu, derelict vehicle, no plates attached. Officers checked the vehicle they discovered two suitcases inside the interior of this vehicle. The officers opened the suitcase where they found several assortment of brown wrapped packages inside of the suitcase.”

According to Chief Superintendent Hart no arrested have been made in relation to the drug find. “It is recommended that those persons who are responsible or have any information of how these drugs got into the vehicle to turn yourself into the nearest police station.”

Hart went further stating, “we assure you members of the public that the Royal Bahamas Police Force is steadfast in keeping you safe. This seizure is a clear indication that we will ensure the Bahamian people, the decent Bahamian people, that they would not be disrupted by this form of drugs.”

Police investigations into this matter are ongoing.
