The Government and people of The Bahamas extend our deepest condolences to the Government and people of Panama following the tragic earthquake that directly impacted communities in the South on 9th October 2026. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones and all those affected. The Bahamas stands in solidarity with Panama and is ready to assist with relief efforts.

The Bahamas Foreign Affairs Ministry remains in contact with Ambassador (designate) Ana Irene Delgado, Panamanian Ambassador to The Bahamas and Honorary Consul Facundo Bacardi, Bahamian representative in Panama City, Panama.

At this time, there are no reports of Bahamians in impacted areas of Southern Panama. The Ministry is aware of and tracking a COPA airline flight with Bahamian nationals on board from Nassau to Panama City which was diverted to Barranquilla, Colombia. Bahamian nationals are advised that if they know anyone impacted by the earthquake, please email our Consular Division at consularcrisis@bahamas.gov.bs.
