More Valley Boys Controversy

Bahamian Media News:

The dispute within the Valley Boys Junkanoo group continued on Tuesday with one faction being evicted from their shack on Claridge Road by another faction.

The World Famous Valley Boys was evicted from the shack by the Valley Boys: The Way Forward.  Herbert Bain informed that The Way Forward is a steering committee formed to spearhead the process of rebuilding the group.

He also said, “we came here this afternoon, really and truly, in our preparation for Bay Street.  We are in need of ensuring that Valley Boys assets are secured, not only for the group members now, but also for future generations to be able to utilize.  This facility was leased to the Valley Boys Junkanoo group I think in 2007.  The lease was for ten years and our previous leadership team they did not seem to see it necessary to renew the lease.  We in our quest to rebuild this group and to rebuild the Valley Boys have renewed the lease.  So we have secured another ten years for the Valley Boys.  Today is just an opportunity to advise our fellow junkanooers, the World Famous Valley Boys, that the facility has now been secured for the Valley Boys.  We have a program to begin and to continue.

Bain also said, “the olive branch is still open for all Valley Boys to come and participate  because at the end of the day this what we’re all about.  We’re about building this group.  So we came today just to facilitate this process and making sure that Valley Boys asset are secured for Valley Boys.”

When asked if the Valley Boys were ready for Bay Street Bain said, “we’re getting there.  Security these two building facilities is a great step forward in ensuring that our team members, our builder and our  Valley Boys have a place to properly prepare so that, our fans, we don’t disappoint them.”

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Hon. Mario Bowleg announced on Tuesday that seed money for the Valley Boys will be placed on hold pending a meeting to be held on Sunday.
