The Progressive Liberal Party has held office for the past three years since winning the 2021 general elections.  During this time the government has concentrated heavily on the economic recovery of Grand Bahama.

Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey recently sat for an interview about the island’s recovery.  She said, “we had to make sure that our people were eating.  We had to make sure that we provided opportunities for those to be able to take care of themselves and their families and I think from day one that’s what happened.”

The Minister shared what she and her team focused on upon assuming office. “We focused on how do we ensure that, you know, people had a place to go to in terms of putting bread on the table.”

Moxey added, “we championed the Evidence Amendment Act.  We restored the SERZ Order for vehicles and we also extended for building supplies.  We returned government services to East Grand Bahama and that included Urban Renewal, Social Services, NIB, the Administrators and District Offices and we also distributed relief grants to straw vendors, to junkanoo groups and we introduced the Empower Grand Bahama Micro Grant Initiative.”

The government also established the Beautiful Grand Bahama Project that employed more than 500 people.
