The Commonwealth of The Bahamas Trade Union Congress (CBTUC) held the National Workers Golden Awards on Wednesday at the Bahamar Resort. Awards were given to outstanding Bahamians including union president Obie Ferguson.

Minister of Labour and Immigration, the Hon. Keith Bell was at the event and delivered remarks. “I want to give the assurance of the honourable Prime Minister and the Davis led new day government that we are committed to our agreement that we signed in 2021 and we want to ensure that we continue to build on labour relations. Let me say, of course too, that to the honourees I wish to congratulate you and to say that you are being honoured for not only what you have done but what you are also capable of doing. On behalf of the honourable Prime Minister and the government of the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas I wish to congratulate you Mr. Obie Ferguson and your executives for planning and executing this auspicious event this evening. The identification and recognition of these distinguished trade union leaders is an indication of the TUC’s commitment to nation building.”

Also on hand at the event was the Minister of State for the Public Service, the Hon. Pia Glover-Rolle.
