Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper has revealed that three companies have shown interest in providing the one day cruise service once provided by the Margaritaville ship.
The Margaritaville left Grand Bahama in December 2023. Cooper said, “we have made calls for entrepreneurs who can provide the service provided by Margaritaville. We have had some inquiries from at least two or three ferry operators who see this as a possibility to provide that replacement service from Florida to Grand Bahama. The government supports this initiative. It will help with tourism but it’ll also help to bolster the way of life for the people of Grand Bahama who’ve gone to Florida for shopping or whatever purpose.”
The Minister said the government is providing incentives in hopes that Bahamian entrepreneurs will rise to the occasion.
