The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) hosted an in-person three-day National Capacity Building Workshop on Proposal Writing for Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Bahamas July 17-19, 2024. The workshop’s purpose was to fulfill CPDC’s commitment to building regional NGOs’ capacity, specifically on developing competitive, precise and cogent project proposals.
In partnership with the European Union and Civil Society Bahamas, the CPDC invited just over 20 NGOs in The Bahamas to take advantage of the workshop, which also resulted in a strong camaraderie that continued beyond the event.
The National Capacity Building Workshop was held at the University of The
Bahamas’ Michael H. Eldon Lecture Theatre, with intense working sessions taking place from 9am to 5pm daily. Richard Jones, Officer in Charge, CPDC and presenter Christon Herbert both flew in from CPDC headquarters in Barbados to lead the workshop.
The workshop was designed to further enhance the knowledge of participants on key elements of proposal writing; build skills and strategies to successfully write proposals; and provide a space for participants to exchange knowledge, collaborate and share perspectives on proposal writing.
This event was a part of a three-year European Union funded project titled
‘Enhancing CARFORUM’s Civil Society Capacity to Participate in National and
Regional Development Programming and Policy Making.’ The project’s overall
aim is to enhance the capacity of NGOs in Bahamas through proposal writing.
