Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama, the Hon. Kwasi Thompson contributed to debate on the Registered Land Bill and the Land Adjudication Bill in the House Of Assembly on Wednesday.
While expressing the Opposition’s support of the bills Thompson queried the absence of a plan for which areas will be prioritized for adjudication. He said, “the bill merely states that the Minister may from time to time declare these areas. It does not provide any guidance on whether it will be New Providence, the family islands, Grand Bahama, which ones will be first, which areas will be first out of those islands or whether there will be an attempt, again I don’t believe there should be an attempt to do all of these at one time, but we need to understand that plan. Which islands will be first? Why are those islands first? Which sections in those islands will be first and why are those sections in those islands going to be prioritized?
Following the passing of the bills the House adjourned to July 23rd.
