Two men were shot at the Palmdale Shopping Plaza located on Madeira Street on Tuesday afternoon. The men were attempting to make a bank deposit at the bank located in the plaza when they were approached by a gunman in a light colored Japanese vehicle demanding cash. The men were pursued by the gunman who shot both men and escaped with one of the deposit bags.
Commissioner of Police, Clayton Fernander was on the scene along with other high level police officers. Fernander told reporters, “we’re gonna take this to another level. I believe the Bahamian people is tired now, is tired of everyday, twice a day persons are being shot and gunned down.”
The Commissioner said it is believed the victims were followed to the plaza where the incident occurred. He said, “I have given my instructions to all of the Commanders to reach out to all business owners within their respective division so that we could build this relationship. We have to fight this crime situation together.”
One of the victims was identified on the scene as the brother of retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Stephen Seymour.
