Five persons were sworn in as Parliamentary Secretaries at Government House on Tuesday. Among them were Senators Designate Clint Watson and Keenan Johnson along with Members of Parliament Elect: Sean Roberts, Bradley Fox and Randy Rolle.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technology, the Hon. Chester Cooper delivered remarks at the ceremony. He said, “with the swearing in of these Parliamentary Secretaries the Government’s executive team is now fully assembled and ready for the work ahead.”
Mr. Cooper went further stating, “the Prime Minister has assembled his executive team with a clear mandate to deliver. The Bahamian people expect progress. The progress that we promised, that they can see, feel and trust. They expect the government to move with urgency to listen to act and to remain close to the realities of their lives.”
The appointees spoke with ZNS News, after the ceremony, about their plans for their new positions. Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Senator-Designate Clint Watson said the administration has great plans for the people of The Bahamas. “My role will be to make sure that those plans get communicated to the people of The Bahamas, get executed. Prime Minister, I work extremely well under his leadership. I’m looking forward to working with him to ensure that his plans are executed.”
Parliamentary Secretary in Ministry of Works and Family Island Affairs and Member of Parliament Elect for Central and South Abaco, Bradley Fox said, “this is a combination of works and conversations that would have started months ago about what the real needs of Abaco and the people of Abaco want and need to see happen from this government. And the Ministry of Family Island Affairs, I look to bring my vast knowledge of hospitality, real estate, business, all of that, just to bring value to everything that I touch.”
Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament Elect for Southern Shores, Sean Roberts told ZNS News he wants to familiarize himself with beach erosion and other topics related to his ministry. He said, “we tend to only look at Nassau but we have to look at other family islands.”
Senator-Designate Keenan Johnson was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Member of Parliament Elect for Bimini and the Berry Islands was appointed to serve in the Ministry of Tourism.
