Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis spoke about the revitalization of Grand Bahama’s economy in the House of Assembly on Monday. He was making his contribution to debate on a resolution thanking the Governor General for the Speech from the Throne.
Mr. Davis told Parliamentarians, “visitor arrivals are up more than 91%, that’s over one million visitors last year, making Grand Bahama the fasting growing tourism destination in the country. The Afro-Caribbean Marketplace, the MSC Cruise Port, the Xanadu project, a new deal with the Port Authority and a new hospital and modern airport are all on the way.”
The Prime Minister said the developments are fueling optimism among residents. The redevelopment of the Grand Bahama International Airport is viewed as critical to the island’s continued economy recovery. The project has suffered several delays over the years however, Mr. Davis expressed confidence that the airport will be completed.
Speaking to members on the side opposition Mr. Davis said, “by now y’all should know that if I say it will be done, it will be done. Y’all say wait and see. Y’all waited and see on the power. It’s getting done.”
