Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis delivered the 2025/2026 budget communication on May 28th.

During his presentation he announced that the budget will be balanced with a surplus. This has been met with skepticism. Mr. Davis responded saying, “detractors have to appreciate the manner in which the government accounting is accounted for. Accounting, we’re on a cash basis not an accrued basis. And what we have achieved…you don’t have to just listen to what we say there are international monitors who determine the health of our finances. Moody’s upgraded us, the IMF has said what we’ve done is remarkable. Don’ t take our word google sometimes what these international agencies are saying about our stewardship of the economy. and that should tell them that we are not just patting ourselves on the back and we are not doing this for applause either. We are doing it because we need to put our country in the place that it is and I feel so privileged to be the Prime Minister at this time to steer the wheel and steer the ship to navigate all the challenges we have.”

The Prime Minister is expected to lead debate on the 2025/2026 budget on Wednesday.
