PM National Address

PM National Address

Bahamian Media News:

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis delivered a national address on Tuesday where he spoke to the salary review of public service workers.

During his remarks the Prime Minister said he will not be drawn to the table by threats and called from national respect in discourse. This came a day after negotiations between the government, the Bahamas Union of Teachers and the Bahamas Public Services Union over salary increases and other grievances stalled on Monday.

Mr. Davis said, “we didn’t increase pay to score points. We did it because it was time because Bahamian workers deserved it. So every mother, every father, every working Bahamian this progress is about you. It is about making your life a little easier, your work a little fairer and your family a little stronger.”

The Prime Minister went on to say that this cannot be achieved by fighting. “We can only do it by talking, by listening and by understanding that respect must flow both ways,” Mr. Davis said.
