PM On IMF Report

Bahamian Media News:

In the latest report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the economic growth of The Bahamas is expected to slow to historical levels after the post pandemic rebound.

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis was asked for comment about the IMF Report on Monday.  He said, “we have our own predictions.  We don’t see a slowing down in the economy right yet.  There are some headwinds for us but its not in the economy it is the obligations that have been incurred over the years that is holding us back but we see the observations made by them but we’ll ensure that we continue to ensure that our economy grows and not slows.”

Along with commending the country’s economic rebound the IMF report also highlighted the high central government debt, unreliable energy, shortages in skilled labor, difficulties in business formation and expansion, and the repeated impact of natural disasters as some of the nation’s challenges.
