Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) officially launched its 2026 PMH Month observance on Thursday, October 1, with an Opening Thanksgiving Service celebrating the dedication, compassion and service of its healthcare team.
Held in the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU), the service brought together hospital leadership,
frontline healthcare workers, support staff and invited guests for a morning of reflection, gratitude
and fellowship.
This year’s theme, “Inspired to Care,” places focus on the people whose commitment to patients
and families remains central to the work of Princess Margaret Hospital.
Guest preacher Mr. Daniel Gibson of Holy Trinity Anglican Church delivered a message centred on
faith, service and community, encouraging healthcare workers to continue approaching their work
with compassion, excellence and a clear sense of purpose.
Hospital Administrator Tevard Bastian thanked members of the PMH family for their resilience and
continued commitment to patient care. “Healthcare is more than a profession; it is a commitment
to humanity,” said Bastian. “Every day, we encounter people during some of the most vulnerable
moments of their lives. Through our knowledge, skills, compassion and dedication, we have the
privilege of making a difference. This is what makes our theme, ‘Inspired to Care,’ so meaningful.”
Delivering remarks on behalf of Managing Director Charles Sealy, Deputy Managing Director of the
Public Hospitals Authority, Dr. Keva Thompson, said the theme reflects the deeper purpose behind
the delivery of healthcare.“Our theme for this month, ‘Inspired to Care,’ is not merely a slogan; it is a reflection of the core of
our mission as healthcare providers,” said Dr. Thompson. “Care is at the heart of healthcare, but to
be inspired to care means that our service flows from a deeper place of compassion, purpose and
commitment.”
Dr. Thompson also expressed the Authority’s gratitude to the doctors, nurses, allied health
professionals, administrative teams, support staff and other employees who contribute each day
to the delivery of care at PMH.
As part of the observance, the main corridor of PMH’s Critical Care Block is being transformed into
a staff recognition gallery featuring staff portraits and departmental showcases. The exhibition will
highlight the individuals and teams whose expertise, compassion and service contribute to the
hospital’s daily operations and patient experience.
The Thanksgiving Service marks the beginning of activities scheduled throughout October, with
additional commemorative events continuing into November. Activities will include Walktober
Wednesdays, a special café experience for employees and the PMH International Food Festival on
Friday, October 30, 2026, among other staff and community-focused initiatives.
Through this year’s observance, Princess Margaret Hospital will celebrate the people and purpose
behind its longstanding legacy of service while reaffirming its commitment to compassionate,
patient-centred care.
