Police are investigating the shooting death of a 24 year old man. The body of the man was found in a Dodge Ram truck on Pine Crest Blvd on Saturday evening.
Officers of the East Street South Police Station heard the gun shots at around 7pm. Police Press Liaison Officer, Chrislyn Skippings said, “officers immediately exited that station, they ran to the rear of the station where they observed a dark gray Nissan Cube fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. The officers immediately got into their private vehicle which was parked at the rear of the station and they pursued that vehicle onto Bamboo Blvd. where the suspects vehicle collided into another vehicle driven by a civilian, no one in that vehicle was injured.”
The suspects exited their vehicle and was followed on foot by police officers. Skippings said a second unit responded to the incident. “They joined in the pursuit of another suspect who was also on foot. That suspect produced a weapon, engaging officers and he was shot. He was taken to the hospital where he remains at present, his condition is unknown. Right now we’re actively searching for a third suspect that was involved in the incident.”
According to Skippings, Commissioner of Police, Clayton Fernander commended the officers for their quick response and bravery. She also said firearms must be removed from the streets. “They’re killing our sons we must preserve our sons. We need to preserve their lives and the only way we can do that is if we work hand and hand. The police force remains committed, we remain dedicated, we remain firm and we remain resilient to the task ahead. We will continue to serve and protect the great citizens of this country.”
Two suspects have been taken into custody and one is a large in relation to this incident.
