Princess Margaret Hospital Update

Bahamian Media News:

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis and Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville took part in a ribbon cutting and blessing ceremony at the Princess Margaret Hospital for a new modular unit that houses thirty nine beds.

During a press conference held, Prime Minister Davis spoke to the shortage of health care professionals and the establishment of a Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) academy. He said, “we have shortages of nurses, doctors and other health aligned personnel and the institution of this institute to train burses and other allied workers in the health field is a welcomed addition to the efforts of the PHA.”

The addition of the modular unit is part of a renovation project at the Princess Margaret Hospital including wards Male Medical 1 and 2 and Female Surgical 1. Hospital Administrator Mary Walker said, “we now have fifty two beds that have been returned to service. So these return to service beds make sure that we can deal with our patients.”

According to PHA Managing Director Aubynette Rolle renovations will move into the Accident and Emergency section in the next few months.
