Senator Quinton Lightbourne resigned from the Senate during proceedings on Monday. Lightbourne was appointed as a Senator after the 2021 general elections.
President of the Senate, Sen. Hon. Lashell Adderley responded to Lightbourne’s announcement saying during his tenure he acquitted himself admirably. “Senator Lightbourne gave stellar contributions and was serious about putting Bahamian people first and doing what is right and best for our country. Indeed your charismatic style of contribution was an effective tool to bring balance to the debate and also kept me up.”
Adderley added, “we will miss you Senator Lightbourne. We extend best wishes to you as you take 242 to the world and we know that you will provide excellent leadership and mentorship at the Inter-American Development Bank.”
Lightbourne also recently demitted office as the youngest person ever appointed as Chairman of the Bahamas Development Bank. He has since assumed office as the Alternate Executive Director for the Caribbean Constituency on the Board of Directors of the IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab in Washington, DC.
