Investigations are ongoing into a plane crash that occurred on Ragged Island over the weekend which resulted in the death of two people.
Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe commented on the incident on Monday. He told reporters, “the passengers aren’t immediately identified which would kind of indicate that there may have been no filed flight plan. The briefing that I received indicated that the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration officers were on the ground and I would think that that may be some idea of what is being looked into.”
Also commenting on the crash Monday was Director of Aviation, Dr. Kenneth Romer. He said, “our Civil Aviation Authority has done a phenomenal job when it comes to providing oversight, safety oversight, regulatory compliance where there are issues involving safety or security they try to be proactive in addressing it.”
The plane reportedly crashed near the Duncan Town airport early on Sunday morning. It subsequently caught fire and the burned remains of two people were found.
